My dog's poop is dark after stopping clindamycin. Is it normal?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 2 years and 8 months old

Is this color of his potty normal ? Also he was on clindamycin and I stop 2 day ago due to gas issue I stop giving him since then today's is thisrd day and he did this color potty kindly see the attach photo first two photo are without flash and 3 one is with flash

Hello, sorry to hear about Danny. It does indeed look like his stools may be darker than normal. This may be associated with the use of clindamycin as this antibiotic can cause soft stools and GI upset. Now that you have stopped it, his stools should return to normal within the next few days. If they don't, then you will need to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as he may need some probiotics. Hope this helps and best of luck.

    Both antibiotics are great! Clindamycin is a little tougher on the gastrointestinal tract so that is probably why you are seeing those changes in Bruno's stool. I would let your veterinarian know so they can change the medication to help with Bruno's skin. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
