My dog has a red spot, but it doesn't seem to bother her. What is it?

I just noticed this red spot on my dog and I was wondering what it is? She doesn't seem to be irritated or hurt by it.

Thank you for providing a picture of Rosie's wound. It looks like she could have injured herself, leading to this red spot. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep an eye on it, and if it gets bigger, becomes swollen, warm to the touch, or there's pus, I would take her into the vet to get treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

    Rosie could be experiencing some GI issues, or potentially a problem with her anal glands, which are on either side of her anus. If she will let you look back there, and if there is any swelling, redness, or bleeding/oozing you should take her to the vet as she may need to have the glands flushed and take medications for infection and pain.

It is hard to tell from the picture, but is there a discharge or an actual opening to the area. If there is then you can keep it clean with mild soap and water until you can get to the vet as it may need antibiotics from being infected. If the area is just red with no breaks in the skin, then I would rotate Neosporin with cortisone cream to apply topically to help it heal. If it spreads or changes, then I would get it checked by your vet. It may be from bug bite or getting scratched out side.

Question about a red, seemingly irritated spot on my dogs neck
That lesion is very irritated on Nana's poor little neck! Lesions like this can be related to trauma, a skin infection, the beginning of a hot spot or an infected cyst under the skin. I can't tell from the photo, but if it looks like bruising, then there is also a concern for a bleeding disorder and she needs to get to the vet right away. Assuming there is no bruising, I recommend to have the lesion examined by the veterinarian since it is so red. There are a few things you can do at home that may help until you get her into the vet. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You can wash the lesion with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash her whole body, just the spot). Protect the areas from licking or scratching. A cool (not cold) compress twice a day may also make it feel better. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). Why does my dog has a red spot on her butt?
It could be that your dog has injured herself, could have an infection, or it could be a growth of some sort (benign or malignant) causing this red spot on her bottom. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I would have her checked out by a vet this week for this problem. The vet can diagnose what is causing the red spot, and can treat her for it. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I’m not sure if this is a cut or something else.
It could be minor irritation or infection. Monitor Red for excessive scratching or pawing as well as swelling or discharge. An e-collar (cone) can be used to prevent rubbing or pawing and may ne enough to allow for healing. If it spreads, doesn't heal or causes discomfort, have him examined by your veterinarian.

I saw this on my dogs leg a week ago and it just got redder should I be worried.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is probably just a small wound and is of no major concern. You can apply a thin film of triple antibiotic for about 3-5 days to help prevent it from getting infected. If no improvement by then, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!

Infection or injured don't know what happened in his lower part of a body
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. From the pictures, it appears as though there is a solitary reddened lesion on the skin. This could be a wound or an infection. I would recommend cleaning this using a solution of diluted betadine and water (mix until a light brown color) and monitor for signs of worsening. If the area does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

Green scab behind dog ears and blood and puss ?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Rosie! From the pictures it looks like Rosie may have a hot spot (superficial skin infection). Hot spots can start off small then spread quickly and become larger and painful. Goldens commonly get them from ear infections or from being wet from swimming. I recommend that you take her to the Vet today. The Vet will clip the fur away, clean the area and prescribe antibiotics, steroids, and likely something topical. They will check for an ear infection and prescribe ear wash and ear drops if needed. I hope this helps and I hope Rosie has a speedy recovery!

What is this on my puppy should I be concerned ?
This looks as if it could be an insect bite, such as a biting fly. If your dog has no other areas of skin that look bruised, her gums look nice and pink with no bruising, and she has normal appetite/energy then I would just monitor the spot. If it isn't resolving in a few days or other abnormalities develop then a vet exam is needed.

I found a red spot on my dog what could it be?
Hello, I am sorry to hear of your concern for Kilo. It looks as though this could be an insect bite reaction, if it is just a single location. Other possibilities could be a minor injury from something outside, a focal area of dermatitis, or less likely a fungal infection like ringworm. Without seeing Kilo in person, it is impossible to say for certain what this red spot is, but I would continue to monitor it daily at home. If it increases in size, opens and begins oozing or becomes ulcerated, or more spots appear then a visit to the vet is needed!
