My 3 year old gerbil has become suddenly anorexic and frail, losing 90% of his body weight in about 3 to 4 days. He is calmer than usual, let me scooping and pick him up with out making a sound or moving in any way. His eyes are barley open, and you can feel his spine and hips and ribcage, even under his ribcage through his fur/skin. Normal he is very chunky, bouncy, active gerbil. I gave him fresh food and a small blackberry, he spent about 10 mins eating but did not eat very much at all.

Nightingale sounds very sick. My best advice is for you to get him to a vet for an exam as soon as possible. His symptoms are not specific for any one illness or disease process so there is not much I can tell you without examining him myself. Your vet will need to see him to get this figured out and to get him the proper treatment. Best wishes.
