My English Bulldog has a large lump on her side. What should I do?

This appears to be a tumor or a large cyst. There is no way to discern whether it is malignant or benign via a photo. Your veterinarian can take a small tissue sample from the tumor and send it in to evaluate it. He can also take the whole tumor and send the whole thing in. Best schedule an appointment for an exam soon.

    This certainly is a pretty large tumor and you should have that examined by your veterinarian. Your vet will give your dog a general exam to make sure she is in good condition and fit and then probably will take a fine needle aspirate (tissue of the tumor taken with a fine needle, and not painful) to be sent to a lab to determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant and whether it should be removed. Please make an appointment with your veterinarian soon.

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take him to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Large soft swelling to the right hand side of her torso to the right of her leg no pain
Although a picture of it would help to give you more specific answers, this growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors. From your description this mass could be a lipoma ( a benign type of tumor, coming from fat tissue). Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I'm sorry but it is highly unlikely we can tell you what this lump is just by looking at a photo. Lumps are usually one of the following: * cyst * abscess * tumor * wart Your vet will be able to give you a better idea after they examine her and feel the lump. It is not an emergency. Just get her to your vet for an exam when you can schedule the appointment. My best guess is that it is either an abscess or a cyst.

Hi my dog has a massive lump on his side of his back leg.near his back.it reminds me of when I had a cyst under my arm Pitt. It as exactly the same.
Pets can get many types of lumps and bumps. Most of these tumors will be benign but some will be malignant and you can't tell by looks. From to photo, it looks like there's a pink area which could represent an impending rupture. The doctor may recommend to aspirate the mass to examine the cells under a microscope. That is one of the best ways to know what it is and if further action is needed. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Lipomas can be attached and firm but they are not expected to grow rapidly. Rapid growth can be a bad sign. I recommend to get her into the veterinarian in the next few days. They will need to sample the mass and look at the cells under the microscope. Most of these masses will be some type of tumor but sometimes it’s more infection or inflammatory based. That’s the only way to know exactly what it is and if you need to take further action. Since it’s growing so quickly, I don’t recommend to wait.
