Why is my senior cat losing her voice with breathing and runny eyes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | 11 years and 6 months old

My kitty of 11 1/2 years old is the most vocal cat I've ever had, lately shes been loosing her voice. I've never heard her like this and makes me worried! She's had some breathing issues the past few years, runny eyes and nose occasionally. She eats well and plays well still! She sleeps alot. She makes herself sick when she gets into carrier's so can't do car rides easily at all (gives me anxiety to) Anyways so with that said she's never really been to the vet. Can anyone help???

Poor Princess! If she's losing her voice, it could be she is suffering from a respiratory infection. Given she hasn't really been into a vet and she's an older girl, this is something that should be checked out by one. I would have her seen by a vet this week. Best of luck.
