My puppy fell and is limping. What's wrong if the vet cleared her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 24 days old | 10 lbs

My 7 week old puppy fell off the bed 5 days ago onto her front right leg and has been limping since. When she fell she yelped loudly for a few seconds and then seemed ok other than the limp. She can bear weight but won’t put it all on the leg and shows no sign of pain when walking. I took her to the Vet and the Vet cleared her by giving her a physical examination and gave her an anti inflammatory shot. My question is, should I be more concerned than I already am? Any possible diagnoses?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If your veterinarian examined Honey and did not think there was a break or fracture, it may be just a sprain or muscle pull. If you are still concerned, you can request an x-ray of the leg be done at your vet’s office just to be sure. I hope this helps!
