My Pekingese has a perforated ulcer and blockage. Is his treatment correct?

Pet's info: Dog | Pekingese | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 15 lbs

Pekingese has slipped discs and got treated with inflacam. Meds cause perforated ulcer and was put on morphine drip & omeprazole. Took him home but now has blockage, vet gave antibiotics and suggested continued use of omeprazole. Please provide second opinion? Is this the correct treatment?

Hello, sorry to hear about Pablo. In dogs that have a GI ulcer that has perforated, they typically require surgery to remove the abnormal portion of the stomach or small intestine. However, if he has not perforated, then considering medications such as with omeprazole and other gastro-protectants is adequate. Hope this helps and best of luck.
