Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

Is it normal for a female puppy to have green pee.. When it comes out its yellow. But the residue i see left behind is green. Plus when she eats she looks like she's gaining weight. But afterwards she looks like she's underweight.

Hello, No, it is not normal for there to be any green residue in her genital region. My primary concern when seeing discharge like this is something called "pyometra". Pyometra is a serious uterine infection that happens in unspayed female dogs. It results in their uterus filling with pus and requiring an emergency hysterectomy (spay). Your mention of her abdomen appearing to change in size also concerns me that a swollen uterus could be causing this effect. I would recommend taking her in for a vet check as soon as possible. They will likely recommend bloodwork and x-rays as a starting point to check her uterus size, white blood cell count, and make sure her other organs, such as kidneys and liver, are functioning well. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
