My cat lost a lot of weight on his diet. Is it healthy or too much?

Hello - 1 year 6 months old persian male cat had unlimited supply of dry wood and regular small intervals of wet food which made him put on weight. Post lot of analysis, we only serve very limited supply of dry food and 3 times measured wet food for the last 1.5 months. He has reduced lot of weight and his tummy has gone down considerably. In God's Grace, is he ok or am I doing something wrong? Thank you. Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 3 lbs
