My cat lost a lot of weight on his diet. Is it healthy or too much?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 3 lbs

Hello - 1 year 6 months old persian male cat had unlimited supply of dry wood and regular small intervals of wet food which made him put on weight. Post lot of analysis, we only serve very limited supply of dry food and 3 times measured wet food for the last 1.5 months. He has reduced lot of weight and his tummy has gone down considerably. In God's Grace, is he ok or am I doing something wrong? Thank you.

It sounds like you’ve successfully reduced Simba’s weight be restricting calories - good job! If it seems he’s lost too much weight you may want to have your vet examine him - diabetes or parasites can also lead to weight loss. Your vet can also help determine if he’s at his ideal weight and help make a long term diet plan.
