Why does my kitten stare and jump at my face? Is this normal behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 22 days old

Is it normal that, suddenly, when my face is near to my kitten's, she starts staring at my face/eyes, and then (sometimes), she even jumps to it? (I'm scared when she does this as I don't want her to scratch my eye).

Hello, sorry to hear about Halley. Your kitten may be trying to play with your eye lashes as you blink. The playful activity is normal and she wouldn't understand not to do that. To prevent any injury both to you and your kitten, avoid having her so near your face, or remove her from the scenario when she begins to stare at your eyes. Hope this helps and best of luck.
