My pug keeps itching, getting ear infections. Is it allergies?

My pug has itching issues. We have been to the vet three times, but the itching always comes back. He tends to scratch his underarms and lower belly and it is sometimes followed by ear infections. Although the infections have been treated properly by the vet, the problem reappears after a couple of weeks. Thanks, Mimi

It sounds like there is underlying condition causing the relapse - allergies and food sensitivities are common causes. I recommend a hydrolyzed diet such as royal canin hypoallergenic for 8-10weeks to assess for diet triggers and possibly blood tests for allergies
