Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 years and 6 months old | 22 lbs
My dog isn't able to walk and is losing his sensory on his legs. His white blood cell count is abnormally high and he has no fever according to the vet. Attached is his most recent blood test. Can you list possible infections that may cause a dog to loose his neuro sense and mobility with no fever and he is eating and drinking fine. Need help urgently

Hello, sorry to hear about Ricky. If you consider his bloodwork alone, an infection is highly likely. Based on the elevated eosinophil count, then Neospora infection should be consider. Any bacterial or fungal infection within the spinal cord or brain can also be consider. Now this may actually not be infectious at all, and so, an autoimmune inflammatory disease or a herniated disk compressing his spinal cord can cause pets to loose their function and sensation to their limbs. Finally, any muscle disease or long nerve disease, isolated to their back legs may cause this as well. Further diagnostics should be made to determine why Ricky is losing function of his back legs. Diagnostics to consider include an MRI, Spinal Fluid tap, and perhaps even blood cultures. You may be able to obtain further information from a neurologist, so speak with your veterinarian about referring Ricky to see a neurologist. Hope this helps and best of luck.
