What's wrong with my puppy's raised, red, yellow, oozing foot scar?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 1 year and 7 months old | 40 lbs

My vet said my puppy had a scar did a skin scrape and everything on the spot and it’s been about 6 months since. But today I noticed it is now raised, yellow, red, and seems to be oozing clear liquid out of a small cut on his foot.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This lesion you describe could potentially be something like an abscess for example. However, other things are possible. I recommend that you have Hoss evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If an abscess or infection was noted, further local therapy with drainage and antibiotics would be recommended. Good luck and best wishes!
