My cat cries all night wanting to go outside. How can I stop it?

How can I make my cat to stop crying all the night because he wants to go out?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would encourage you to enrich his environment inside by adding toys, scratch pads and other things that he can find interesting. I also really like a product called Feliway which helps to make cats feel more at ease in their environment. This is something you can easily get from your pet store or online. This is so hard. I think some cats get a taste of outdoors, especially when they start hunting, and they want it all the time. Once they know what is out there, it is very hard to move them back indoors. It is probably worth trying Feliway, which is a pheromone to help with anxiety. If that doesn't work, and you would consider re-homing him to where he can be outside, that is always an option, although obviously a very difficult choice.
