Pet ringworm: Are Malaseb and Phytoral working? How long to heal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Birman | Female | unspayed | 11 months old | 3 lbs

Max got ringworm two weeks ago from a homeless kitten I brought home from the road. Now the kitten is adopted by someone. However me and max has ringworm now. I’m using malasab shampoo to bath Max twice a week and Phytoral ointment on the effected areas. Am I using the correct medications and how will I know if she’s recovering and within how many days she’ll be fully recovered from ringworm?

Yes, the medications you are using are appropriate. Ringworm can take months to resolve so just keep on with the treatment. Be sure when bathing with Malaseb you leave the shampoo on her coat for at least 5 minutes before rinsing. The shampoo needs contact time with the skin in order for it to work. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
