Why did my kitten die suddenly after struggling to breathe and in pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Till yesterday, one of my stray Kittens(4 1/2 months) was all good and eating well. Not vaccinated and dewormed, will get this done asap. Today he didn't come for food and when I found him, it was raining heavily and he was sitting under the tree fully drenched crying in pain and not moving much..After drying him up, I took him to vet and post injection within sometime he died. He was finding it difficult to breathe. Infection wouldn't have manifested death so suddenly, any reasons. Thank you.

He may have had an injury, been hit by a car or he had a congenital heart defect that caused a blood clot at the bifurcation of the aorta (that paralyses hind legs and hurts terribly). This can also cause a clot in the lungs which would cause breathing problems. Unfortunately most cats with these blood clots die within a short time. I am so sorry for your loss. This is very sad.
