Why are my dog's back legs twitching like seizures repeatedly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cairn Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 years and 5 months old | 12 lbs

My poodle/cairn recently started having what appear to be mini seizure/contractions of his rear legs, every few seconds. This only started a few weeks ago.

That is a concerning sign and it would be best to bring Bennie to a vet ASAP for a complete exam and any tests such as bloodwork, especially if the issue has been ongoing for several weeks. Neurologic issues, muscular/joint issues, metabolic issues, etc can all have symptoms similar to this, so an exam is best to rule out underlying causes.
