Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 years and 1 month old | 17 lbs
We took Mitzi in for an exam today. The Vet took a blood sample and also gave us a kit to collect a urine sample which is very confusing. She gave us a kit to collect a sample but we are not clear as to how to do it. We were told to empty the litter box and place the small amount of absorbent and then return it to the vet. If there is no litter in the box she may not go there. Can you clarify this for us? Thank you.

Yes, that is correct. You remove the litter, and place the material in the box. Mitzi will use the box when she has to pee, as the material will be appealing to her to urinate in. This is a non-invasive way to get a urine sample from the cat. I hope this helps!
