My cat drank albuterol liquid. Is it toxic or dangerous for cats?

I think my cat drink a little bit o albuterol sulfate liquid by biting on a plastic tube, it is dangers?

I would recommend that you call ASPCA's poison control number. That number is 888-426-4435. There is a $65 charge, but they will be able to best advise you. Please have the label available so you can let them know the amount of medication listed, how much was in the package, and what any other potentially concerning ingredients were.

    There is no specifically worked out dosage for albuterol in cats, but it can be safely given to children up to 4 times daily, so we can extrapolate from that. I know you will be concerned but I really don't think any harm will have been done.

My 5 month old boxer got a hold of my nebulizer albuterol capsule. Can this be harmful and what signs should I be looking for
Oh dear, poor Pearl! Albuterol can cause signs of toxicity at certain doses, which can cause high blood pressure, elevated heart rate, tremors and seizures. Some dogs also become a bit depressed or vomit as well. At this point, I recommend calling the ASPCA animal poison control center at (888) 426-4435 to discuss the volume of albuterol ingested (how many mg?) for Pearl's 20 pound body weight. From there, they will be able to advise you as to whether toxicity is expected and will need veterinary attention or if Pearl can be monitored at home. I hope that all goes well!

Is it serious if my cat was dosed twice within 6 hours of theophylline SR 100mg?
Unfortunately, this could be serious. As I'm sure you know, this is an extended release product, and the typical dose is 100mg per cat every 24 hours, so yes, I believe you very well might see toxicity from this, including (on the mild side) excitement, hyperactivity, vomiting, and diarrhea, all the way up to seizures. You have a couple of options: you can call the ASPCA's toxin hotline at (888) 426-4435; they will charge you for the call ($45) but they keep an extensive database on all types of overdoses and will be able to tell you if this is a significant overdose. Your other option is to take Nox to an emergency clinic now to have vomiting induced, and have him treated for the ingestion. They will be able to administer activated charcoal to absorb any residual toxins in the gut as well.

I think you should contact the Pet Poison Helpline. Albuterol can be quite toxic and I’d be concerned at his size this could be a toxic exposure. Albuterol can cause a decrease in potassium and muscle weakness and it can affect the heart. http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com

I am so sorry that Spectre is going through this. Albuterol 90 mcg usually just 1 puff is used in cats in times of respiratory distress. I would not wait and I would get her into see an emergency veterinarian immediately. The albuterol will wear off and when it does she needs to either be in an oxygen cage or have enough steroids on board to calm her airways. I would encourage you to discuss an Aerokat mask with your veterinarian as these can be really useful in administering the albuterol to kitties. Also an inhaled steroid may be a good idea as well. I would call the Pet Poison hotline immediately. +1-855-764-7661 They have 24/7 veterinarians who specialize in toxicities. They also have access to databases of cases that match Sylvester’s. They can tell you whether you need to rush to the emergency vet or to not worry at all. There is a $59 fee but that is much cheaper than an emergency vet visit! My 70 lb pit chewed into an albuterol vial. He didn't ingest much, less than 1/4 of it. Should I take him in right away or be looking for any signs before I get concerned?
It depends on specifically how much was ingested, but these sorts of exposures are concerning and have caused major problems in dogs before. This drug can cause heart problems and lead to life-threatening complications, so my best recommendation is to take Rosco in to a vet for an evaluation. He may need treatment or monitoring tonight. Hopefully, all will be OK and he'll be fine, but it's best to check.

I’m worried one of my cats drank rubbing alcohol. I just noticed the cup was dry. It only had enough in it to cover the bottom. There are 2 cats and both are acting normal. What should I watch for? Can I do anything right now? The emergency vet is 45

If you did not see them drink the alcohol, it is very likely that the small amount that was covering the bottom of the cup just evaporated. Alcohol tends to evaporate quite quickly at room temperature. Alcohols, when ingested, can cause metabolic disturbances and neurological side effects. If you are concerned, you can call ASPCA poison control hotline for more information. If you are unsure as to whether or not they drank the alcohol, you could monitor for symptoms and if you begin to notice them being lethargic, vomiting, acting strange, then I would recommend taking them in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
