My kitten always play fights and bites when I pet her. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 20 days old

Is it normal that my kitten wants to play (to play fight, more specifically), all the time? Literally, all the time. To the point that when she's relaxed and falling asleep, y try to pet her and she starts biting (playing, I guess). I always see these videos of people with their kittens on their lap, with their tummies up and being petted, but when I try to pet mine (most of the times), she'll start biting and trying to play.

Every cat has their own personality, similar to every human is an individual. Some have higher energy than others. There are many cats that don't like to be petted at all! Those people with the sleepy, purring kittens may wish they could play with their kitten. Halley seems to have a rambunctious spirit, which may not last through adulthood. Take advantage of her spirit right now!
