My cat's urine is super yellow. Is this a sign of a health problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 months and 24 days old | 8 lbs

I just noticed Thor's urine is super yellow. I know it's his cuz he always pees in the same corner of one litter box. It doesn't seem like he has bee going more frequently than normal and he doesn't seem to have any irritation around his belly or genital region. I've just never seen either of my cats pre this yellow before and I cant find out online what it means. Should i be worried?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely due to some degree of dehydration. I would recommend you encourage him to drink more water which you may do by feeding him canned food or increasing the number of water bowls around the house. Other possibilities include something like a urinary tract infection. For this reason, if this continues, Thor should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
