My dog has diarrhea and isn't eating. Can I test for parvo at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 104 lbs

We’re paranoid that pilot could have parvo.. he is still very active but lately he hasn’t been eating he’s having diarrhea not really drinking either and his gums are getting lighter in color but we can’t afford to get him checked at the moment so is their anything we can do ourselves to know if he even does have it?

I am sorry Pilot is not feeling well. Unfortunately the only way to tell if a patient has parvo is by doing a test for it. This test needs to be completed at the vet. I know it can be hard but I would recommend getting Pilot to the vet as soon as possible. Parvo can be fatal and most dogs need aggressive care to help them through the illness. Some vets can develop a treatment plan at home even though keeping them in the hospital is ideal. hope he feels better soon
