My Shih Tzu has red, sore eyes after a dog fight. Is Maxitrol safe?

Hi is it ok to use maxitrol eye drops on my shih tzu dog? Because her eyes seems to be sore since he was attack by our aspin dog (local philippine dog) she was bruised on her right upper eye lid and neck bec. of our aspin’s bite we already cleaned it with betadine but i think after a few days her eyes starts to turn red and and building up eye dirts pleghm like substance im scared that my dog might go blind because of this please help me.. thanks a lot..

I am worried that Atasha might have a corneal abrasion, or a scratch on her eye from the bite wound that could be infected. Her other wounds could be infected as well. Maxitrol contains dexamethasone which could make a corneal abrasion worse so I would not recommend using this drop. Shih Tzus in particular tend to have trouble with corneal abrasions so it would be best to have your vet take a look as soon as you can. Hope she’s feeling better soon!
