Why is my baby squirrel's poop watery after using milk replacer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I've had my baby squirrel (Bo) for a week now and was told to use esbilac puppy milk replacer and alternate with pedialyte and I have been and he's been doing good but now his poop is dark golden liquid, it used to be like mustard and firm. What am I doing wrong?

The PediaLyte should be used for hydration, then switch to the Esbilac. Overfeeding can cause diarrhea. You can give a tiny bit of Bene-Bac or plain yogurt to promote a healthy gut. Consider consulting with a wildlife rehabilitator or wildlife veterinarian. Check local laws to make sure you can keep and raise Bo.
