Puppy's tail injured by door, now limp and painful. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | 2 months and 19 days old | 2 lbs

I almost slammed my puppy’s tail shut in the door, she was crying for a whole minute then layed down. She is not bleeding but her tail won’t go up like it usually is what should I do ?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This would warrant a veterinary evaluation for further assessment and treatment. These types of traumatic lesions can result in a fracture of the tail which can be quite painful. Even when a fracture is not present, this tends to result in a lot of pain. They would be able to evaluate her and at the very least start medications for pain. Good luck and have a good night!
