This is an emergency. Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Sudden loss of eye sight can be caused by many conditions, inherited/congenital eye disease, tick borne disease (Ehrlichiosis), diseases of the retina, SARDS (usually in older dogs), Inflammatory, autoimmune, or allergic causes and many more. Please take Buddy to a veterinarian now.

Your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian to determine the cause of his blindness. A veterinary ophthalmologist would be best because he/she can do a more thorough ocular examination and evaluate the retina and optic nerve. If trauma has caused his blindness than it might resolve with time but he should be treated with anti-inflammatory medications to help with any swelling and inflammation. Please have your dog evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the cause and best way to treat.

I recommend to have Googie examined by the veterinarian quickly. A sudden onset of blindness can be due to many things including Glaucoma, retinal detachment or lense luxation. These are considered emergencies since quick intervention is needed for any chance of vision longer term. Best to play it safe and have him examined today. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
