Hi, is piperazine safe to give in a pregnant bitch? I come from a small town and fenbendazole is not available here.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Piperazine is rarely used in the US as there are more effective drugs now. For many drugs we do not have the studies to say 100% if they are safe in pregnant or nursing animals. Piperazine is considered Class A for pregnancy (according to Plumb Veterinary drug manual), which means it is PROBABLY safe, although specific studies may not have proved the safety of all drugs in dogs and cats, there are no reports of adverse effects in laboratory animals or women. Good luck
