Why is my 11-week-old kitten sleeping all day, lethargic, not eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 19 days old | 1lb

I just got a kitten from someone. She’s 11 weeks old and was perfectly fine when we got her. She seemed well taken care of and played, slept and ate normally for about 2 days. On day 3 she began sleeping more than normal (like 23 hrs) Now it’s day 5 of us having her and she is continuing to sleep all day, rarely moving. She isn’t eating quite as often but will eat a little 2-3 times a day and drink a little when she eats. She is very lethargic and won’t play anymore. she just sits and cries now

It sounds like poor Olive is sick. Anorexia and lethargy can be signs of many illnesses such as a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. It's actually quite serious when a cat isn't eating, and I would take her into the vet as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose the cause of her symptoms, and can treat her for it. Please take her into a vet. Best of luck.
