My cat won't eat laxative. Is maple syrup safe to mix for them?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 6 years and 4 months old | 16.3 lbs

I gave my cat laxative to help with is poop I put it on a paperplate and added a drop of maple syrup and he ate it is that okay because he won't eat it any other way it's the first time I try it get wants me to give laxatone once a week should I not to it with maple syrup and is maple syrup no good for fatboy I'm worried thank u

While maple syrup is high in calories and I wouldn't recommend feeding a lot, I think it should be fine to mix a few drops with laxatone to get Fatboy to eat it. Maple syrup is not toxic to cats. If you're interested Vetoquinol makes a maple flavored laxatone that Fatboy might like. Sometimes I have cat owners put the laxatone on their cat's paws to make sure they lick all of it off.
