Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 4 months old | 12 lbs
My cat Leo has had several accidents when my boyfriend approaches him. He will be normal then suddenly growl and poop or urinate where he is sitting. It doesn’t happen when I’m in the room. My cat will let my boyfriend pet him but if he catches my cat at a different time, he will do this. How can I get my cat to stop this behavior?

I'm sorry that your cat and your boyfriend are not getting along. It may be that your cat is somewhat territorial of you, and it could also be that he is nervous around your boyfriend. It may be helpful to read the following article with your boyfriend, specifically the section about "understanding cat body language." Your cat will probably react most favorably if your boyfriend just ignores him altogether and lets the cat approach him. Then Leo is less likely to se your boyfriend as a threat. https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/common-cat-behavior-issues/aggression-cats https://c.ymcdn.com/sites/dacvb.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/docs/Tip2-Feline_body_language.pdf If you have tried this, or if you continue having problems, consider consulting with a behaviorist. Here is a good resource to find one: https://www.dacvb.org/search/custom.asp?id=4709 I hope that helps you! Thanks for asking PetCoach!
