Took Butch (Chihuahua/Pug mix) out for his before bed walk. He was walking on mulch when all of a sudden he drew his front left leg up to his body and started shaking it. I picked him up and looked to see if he had been bitten. Didn't notice anything unusual. He's able to walk on his 3 legs and limps on the one he hurt. He did get sick after the incident. He's now in his bed and doesn't seem to be in pain. What should I do for him?

Poor Butch! He's showing you he is in pain by limping on his front left leg. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
