Why does my active dog vomit after eating human food (rice, chicken)?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 17 days old | 28.66 lbs

Whenever I feed Lily, she vomits. I am not sure why. I fed her human foods. Basically, rice and chicken. She is NOT lethargic. She is very active especiakly if food is around. Any idea? I am thinking of visitng a vet.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. This may be a dietary indiscretion. I would recommend transitioning her to a different food and consider adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. I would try 2-3 different foods and see if that makes a difference. If there is no improvement, then I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
