My dog has hives and is stretching. Why isn't Benadryl helping?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 50 lbs

I’m watching my sisters dog and she was totally fine for a day or two and she started stretching like crazy her paws mouth and belly have all hives I called an on call vet they said to give her Benadryl I only give her one because I’m nervous she’s not getting any relief

Poor Zara. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for a good physical exam. Dogs can have allergic reactions which will cause hives and itchy skin. She might need something stronger to help calm her hives and itchy skin that only a vet can prescribe. Hope that helps
