Puppy dry heaving, vomiting, and diarrhea: Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 19 days old | 5.2 lbs

My puppy wad dry heaving/coughing around 5:30 this afternoon for several minutes then she was fine. I thought maybe she had swallowed some tissue when I wasn’t looking. She dry heaved again a couple more times just before bedtime. I heard her whimpering at midnight so I came downstairs and put her on the pee pad. She pee’d then pooped and as I thought she was finishing up, she had very liquidity diarrhea. As I was cleaning that up, she vomited behind me. Should I take her to the vet?

Yes, definitely take her into the vet now. Bailey is a young puppy, and while she may have swallowed some tissues, I'd also be concerned she could have parvovirus as she won't be fully vaccinated. Whenever a young puppy is having both vomiting and diarrhea, the best thing for them is to have them see a vet immediately. Best of luck.
