My cat is feisty, hates being picked up, and dislikes strangers. Why?

Pebbles is kind of a fiesty cat. She doesnt like to be picked up really at all. Why? She also doesnt like new people that come over even my friend and we hang out a lot. Why? What do i do? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

Some cats just do not like to be handled/cuddled at all. This can be normal for Pebbles personality. I would only be concerned if this is a new behavior. That could indicate something abnormal going on that may make her more standoffish (like pain or discomfort). If Pebbles has always been like this then I would not be too concerned.
