My 7-week-old puppy is shaking, seizing, and very weak. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 25 days old | 2 lbs

My 7 week old puppy wont stop shaking and having seizures. Some moments he’s fine and the next he’s so weak and has no force at all. He gets so limp and literally almost is dead. I don’t know what’s wrong with him. He twitches a lot and doesn’t stop shaking and his head twists all the way around and his legs stretch out and gets stiff. I don’t know what it could be because he can be perfectly fine some moments and on the verge of death minutes later. This has been going on for about 3-4 days.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be due to having a low blood sugar from being so small. Usually small breed dogs require to be fed throughout the day every 6 hours or so. However, this could also be due to something else like a toxicity of some kind. Seizures can be detrimental to a dog's health and this warrants an evaluation as soon as possible by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
