Why is my parakeet losing down feathers daily with powder?

My Sonu is losing its down feathers on regular basis about 2 to 5 daily and feathers have some sort of power in it ( as of my knowledge its power down ) is it common in Alexandrian parakeet to down feathers? Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | 8 months and 4 days old | 360 lbs
