My dog pulls on walks and hates her Halti. What else can I try?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 12 lbs

My cavapoo pulls on her lead when walking. It’s like the walk is a race to get through. As a puppy she practically took the entire walk on her hind legs like a performing bear. Having gone to behaviour classes with little change, I bought the halti collar which goes over her nose. Although it helps with the pulling, she hates it and spends the walk trying to get it off by either rubbing her face in the grass or jumping up and attacking it with her front paws.

A lot of dogs don't like the head harness to start, but over time they may become used to it. Try putting it on at home and distracting her with treats. Let her wear just the Halti not attached to the leash when you are at home and can watch her and she can get used to feeling it on her head. You could also try a gentle leader harness where the leash clips to the front of the harness by the chest. When they pull their balance is pulled off to the side. https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=33614&cmpid=sc Continue with obedience training. It takes time and lots of practice to teach a dog to walk without pulling!
