My tiny puppy's adult teeth are behind baby teeth. Should I wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 11 days old | 2.1 lbs

CoCo is a small Parti Yorkshire Terrier just 2 lbs at 6 mos. She has her adult teeth coming in but they are coming in slightly behind her baby teeth and erupting through her upper palate. I think she is too small for anesthesia and was going to wait a bit before getting her spayed. Will it hurt to wait on getting her baby teeth pulled?

Because Coco is two pounds, it is safe to do anesthesia on her. I would have her baby teeth pulled as soon as possible because they are preventing her adult teeth from being in the correct position. I hope this helps!
