My puppy moose has a rash around his private area. What could it be? How can I help?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!

HI, thanks for using Petcoach! It looks like your lab has a skin infection (pyoderma) either caused by a yeast or bacterial infection. It could be a reaction to something in the environment at the beach or to a shampoo or deodorizer from the groomer. Sometimes the Vet needs to get involved to provide antibiotics, but you can try a medicated shampoo. Bathe him 2-3 times per week and let the lather sit on the affected areas 10 mins before rinsing. If no improvement or it gets worse bring him to your Vet. Here is a good shampoo: https://www.amazon.com/Dechra-TrizChlor-4-Shampoo-8-Ounce/dp/B00K4X8TF6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500736921&sr=8-3&keywords=4+chlorhexidine+shampoo+for+dogs
