My cat is throwing up pink foam and won't drink. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Van | Female | spayed | 5 years and 5 months old | 8.5 lbs

Mi Mikaela has been vomiting since 4 am today, even water. Last meal she ate was evoke soft food seafood version. the first vomit was the wet food mild digested. The consecutive vomits were liquid, foamy, yellowish, and the recent ones are foamy and pink. It's 10.30 am now, and she has decreased the ingestion of water. I purchased a tin of tuna in water, and I put that tuna water on the bowl; but she refurses to eat. I am in Colombia, and no vets work today.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mikaela. Her vomit appears blood tinged. This can occur secondary to irritation of the stomach lining from the frequent vomiting or be the result of an ulcer. Either scenario is potentially serious and she will need to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. Continue to offer plain water and the tuna water to try to prevent her from becoming dehydrated. If she drinks some, you can try a small amount of food. I hope this information helps!
