Please do not put canola oil in Roote's ears! This does not treat ear mites at all, it makes the condition worse, and you could have done damage to his ear drum by doing this. He needs to see vet for this problem immediately. He is showing you he is in pain and distress from this condition by scratching his cheek until there is no fur left. Please stop putting canola oil in his ears, and take him into a vet now.

No, please do not do this. For one, coconut oil does not work at all to treat ear mites, and putting it in Linda's ear will make the problem worse. In addition, ear infections in cats are also caused by yeast and bacteria as well as ear mites, and in order to know how to treat them correctly, both cats have to see the vet. The vet can determine what is causing the ear infection, and can treat them for it. Give the vet a call first thing in the morning to make an appointment. Tonight, put an Ecollar on them to keep them from scratching them further. I will put a link below on how to make one at home. I hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ffR-LzyW1M
