Why is my puppy vomiting, has a floppy ear, and swollen eyes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My collie x staff 4 month old puppy has vomited a few times this morning and his left ear is flopping down occasionally which hasn´t happened before. My wife suspects concussion because the floppy ear is neurological. He had a slight swelling over the eyes last night but I never saw him bang his head and this was gone this morning. I think he has just eaten something bad because he always tries to eat his own faeces and has slight diarrhea and regular stool. I am so worried. What do you think?

A droopy ear is usually not a sign of a neurologic problem - he could have an ear infection or sometimes the ear carriage will change as a puppy grows. The swelling around the eyes may have been a sign of an allergic reaction that could have resulted in vomiting. There are many other potential causes for vomiting as well ranging from ingesting non-food items to parasites to infections. If the vomiting continues or if his ear seems to be bothering him I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian.
