My 3-month-old kitten doesn't always bury her poop. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 9 days old | 2 lbs

My kitty sometimes digs her poop deep in the litter box and covers it and sometimes it doesn't bother to. Lets it stick up all the way to the box. She was given half a dose of tapeworms just yesterday. Is her behavior normal or is she yet to learn? She's 3 months and a few days old.

Every cat is a little different in this behavior, some like to bury their feces and others don't care at all. I wouldn't be concerned as long as she is using the litterbox, having formed stool, and not straining to have a bowel movement.
