Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 lbs
My neutered 10yo cat has been licking his penis lately. When he’s doing this, it’s fully out/erect (I think) and red. He’s been doing it for about several months. Tonight I caught him doing it again and googled the behavior, finding that male feline urinary blockages can kill in a matter of hours. Im panicking that I will wake up in the morning and my boy will be dead. He is not lethargic and his belly is soft. He seems normal and is jumping and running. Should I be immediately concerned?

I can understand being concerned about Buddy. If he was blocked, he would be going to the litter box multiple times, would be straining to urinate, would be yowling in pain when he tries to urinate, and would pass only small amounts of urine or no urine at all. If you see any of those signs, rush him into a vet immediately. It could be he is suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones causing him to lick his penis. Have him seen by a vet in the morning as long as he doesn't show any of the signs I mentioned above (those symptoms requires an emergency visit(. I hope this helps!

He is most likely experiencing pain from urinary crystals. Very common in male cats. This can become a very big problem as often times the crystals will form together into a "glob" and get stuck in the urethra causing an obstruction which is an EMERGENCY! They can also form stones in the bladder. So, you really need to get him to your vet for an examination and urine test.
