My dog hates sweaters and rubs on things. How can I help?

Why does my dog hate wearing sweaters? The others are always good, hazel has a water jacket and I put it on her when its really cold or raining and she always stays still like a statue and then she will rub against the wall, plants, or a couch, the jacket fits her perfectly and she can pee and poop with no issue (asking since summer is all most over ) thank you! Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 10 months old

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is actually quite common. The trick is to make them associate this with something positive. What I have found to be very helpful is to start by just using the sweater for an hour or two at a time initially and to give her treats during that time to make her experience with it enjoyable. You can continue to increase the amount of time she has it on until you are able to keep it on for however long you need. This is very likely to help with this issue.
