My cat is shedding tons of hair after I returned from vacation. Why?

Hello, I just came back from my 3.5 months vacation in which my friend was checking up on my cat at my appartment every day or two during my absence. Ofcourse, she gained lots of weight and now im putting her on a diet. But the thing really annoying me is that since I've came back, she has been shedding crazy amounts of cat hair each day. I'm grooming her 4-5 times a day, and every time I do that, more hair comes out. In addition, every time I pet her (especially tail), lots of hair comes out. Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 9 months and 14 days old | 9 lbs

It may just be that she is naturally moulting as animals do a couple of times a year. However, potentially it could be due to stress considering you have been away and her routine has been altered. If she seems fine otherwise I would simply give her time to settle down. If you are concerned about her health then a vet visit would be warranted.
