Pet's info: Dog | Brittany | Male | 7 months and 4 days old | 25 lbs
My puppy is four months and four days. He is losing his teeth, we have noticed. Today when we woke up I took him out of his crate and he wasn’t acting himself. I went to give him food and he didn’t eat any(usually eats about 1/2 when I first give it to him). My brother watched him for a few hours and he did eat some of his food, but very slowly. When I came down to get him his mouth hit my leg and he cried. I looked and in the front of his mouth there is a spot that is swollen, red, and purple.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sounds like Charlie is is some real discomfort! Loosing baby teeth and having the adult teeth grow in can sometimes cause some pain and discomfort during this process. However, the red and swollen area you described does sound more concerning than just teething pain and may indicate an infection, impacted tooth, or tooth fracture and does warrant a trip to your veterinarian very soon for an oral exam and evaluation. Until you are able to take him in to see his veterinarian, you can try watering down his hard kibble a bit to softer it up and make it easier for him to eat or you can feed him a bit of wet or soft food too. I hope this helps and I wish you and Charlie the best!
