Need a smart, protective family dog for first-time owners with kids?

I need a dog that is smart,friendly,a good family breed that is also big and will make a burglar intimidated or make a bad guy think twice before approaching us. I am also a first time owner. I will be happy with excercise and cost. There are also young children in the house. I am happy to do what ever it costs to take care. If you have an ideal breed,please answer my question Thank you

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your potential dog. I recommend a labrador retriever. They are wonderful family dogs, highly trainable and very loyal. They have a high energy level so will require a considerable amount of exercise. They are happy go lucky dogs, but can be protective of their families. I hope this information helps!
