My kitten has a hernia. When can she safely get surgery to fix it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 0 lbs

I just bought l the most wonderful Siamese kitten, but she has a (large) hernia. It is really scaring me whenever I pick her up that I might be hurting her because of it, or when she’s sleeping on me. How old does she have to be to get it removed through surgery? She’s only 9 weeks old right now but I think that would be old enough to get it removed. Thanks.

As long as Coco is at least two pounds in weight, she can be spayed now, and while the vet is doing her spay, the hernia can be fixed as well. You can call your vet tomorrow to make an appointment for her. Don't worry, you aren't hurting her when you pick her up and when she sleeps on you. I hope this helps!
